While the COVID-19 health pandemic has temporarily changed the way we celebrate our seniors, plans are in place to recognize the Class of 2020.
On May 17, AHS will have a modified/virtual graduation. Each student will have the opportunity to walk across the stage and receive his/her diploma. Students will also make any speeches that they would have normally made. Each student has a scheduled time to attend. The ceremony will be filmed, and a video will be put together to share the ceremony with the public virtually at a later date.
A more public celebration will be held on May 24. There will be a senior parade through Augusta beginning at 1:00 PM. Seniors will line up in their vehicles at 12:30 in the school parking lot. Only the senior and his/her immediate family is permitted in each vehicle.
The parade route will begin at Augusta School and go south on Bracken Street. It will then turn right onto 4th Street, turn right onto Main Street, turn right onto Riverside Drive, and end at Frankfort Street at the school. We encourage family members, friends, school staff, and community members to come out and support our seniors. Social distancing should still be maintained by spectators along the parade route.
