Augusta Band Gearing Up for May Performances

The Augusta Independent band and choir programs are gearing up for three big performances throughout May. The first performance for the band and choir will be the Spring concert on Thursday, May 09 at 6:30 pm in the Augusta Independent Gymnasium. The second performance will be the school choir performing What a Wonderful World on Thursday, May 16 at Senior Awards Night. The final performance of the high school band for the year will be at the graduation ceremony on Friday, May 24 at 7:00 pm. The band will perform the traditional processional and recessional along with Under an Irish Sky.

 

The Spring concert will include the 6th grade band, which will play an opening fanfare along with a march and a couple other selections.  The choir will be performing What a Wonderful World, Big Rock Candy Mountain, a selection from Toy Story, some music of Queen and other selections. We will also be premiering the steel band playing a traditional island soca along with Havana. We will finish the concert with the high school band playing selections from a hymn to a march and two traditional songs from Ireland. The concert is free and open to the public.
