Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome! This is my 11th year teaching, and I am very excited to teach your student during another great year at Augusta Independent. Your child and their success is very important! Please encourage your student to complete their homework, study, and work hard. 3rd grade is a pivotal year in which students move into the intermediate grades. They will learn their multiplication and division facts, read more exciting material, and enjoy learning about the world around them. It will be essential that they have your support.

Students will have homework 4 nights a week. I will send home a stapled packet on Monday and it must be turned in by Friday. It is up to you whether you do a little or a lot each night, but it must be turned in by Friday in order to get Panther Club. There will be a reading assignment with questions, a spiral review math sheet, and spelling tasks to complete each week. Please have your student read to you or with you because 3rd grade students still need support. They will need to underline where they find the answer in the text.

MobyMax, Xtra Math, and ClassDojo are important sites used on our classroom. MobyMax provides math and reading practice, Xtra Math provides practice to develop math fact fluency, and ClassDojo is a behavior management program. I will be sending home information to help you access each of the tools at home. Also, please check your student's agenda often because they will list important notes.

If you need to contact me, you can e-mail through the school website or leave a message with the secretary. I will contact you as quickly as possible. I look forward to working with you and your child!

Sincerely,

               Ms. Maria Hitt
