District Governor’s Cup
 District Governor’s Cup

Coach Brenda Flack

The Augusta Elementary Academic team members and coach were filled with excitement when they arrived at Northern Elementary in Pendleton County on February 25th to participate in District competition against Northern Elementary, Southern Elementary, and Taylor Elementary.

Students eagerly completed their written assessments on time so that all teams could begin the Quick Recall games. Augusta drew tough competitor Northern Elementary for Round 1, but we didn’t let that deter us from winning our first Quick Recall match ever in competition. The Augusta team did not win the next two matches, but can hold their heads high with pride with final scores of 23 to 18 for each match.

Governor’s Cup promotes and recognizes outstanding academic achievement through academic competition. Augusta Independent had two students place in competition this year. Stephen Cordle, son of John and Jacqui Cordle, won first place for written assessment in Social Studies and second place for written assessment in Mathematics. Rebecca Tabor, daughter of Melony and Paul Tabor, won third place in Science. These students will compete at the Regional Governor’s Cup at Campbell Ridge Elementary on March 17th.

Augusta Independent Elementary Academic Team members that participated in District 70 competition were Stephen Cordle, Aliyah Thorpe, Katie Gilbert, Brynn Dufrene, Rebecca Tabor, McKenzie Deatley, Dylan Ernest, and Kyle Blevins.
