It is the goal of Augusta Independent School to provide each student with a high quality education. With the rising costs of resources and materials and decreasing funds, being able to provide our students and teachers with current resources and up-to-date technology is challenging. To offset budget cuts the past few years, we have relied heavily on grants. Augusta Independent School has worked very hard to seek, apply and secure several grants to provide our students with educational opportunities they deserve. Thanks to the Read to Achieve Grant, we have a Reading Intervention teacher and program to help bridge the gap for below level readers. We have also been very fortunate to receive grants from the R.C. Durr Foundation and the Making It Happen Foundation to help us secure Chromebooks for all of our MS / HS students, as well as many other technological upgrades in our classrooms.
These grants have been the means to continue providing a high quality education to our students. Another helpful option we have utilized is the website: www.donorschoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is a charity that makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. All donations are tax deductible. Founded in 2000 by a high school teacher in the Bronx, DonorsChoose.org empowers public school teachers from across the country to request much-needed materials and experiences for their students. Several Augusta Independent teachers have already had projects funded through this website, and there are a couple of projects currently listed on the website posted by our teachers. If you are looking for a way to help the faculty, staff and students at Augusta Independent, please check out www.donorschoose.org. You can search for projects that will benefit our school by searching for Augusta, KY. As always, thank you for supporting our students and teachers at Augusta Independent School.
