Augusta Independent School was very excited on Thursday, September 22, when Tommy and Caroline Jefferson delivered a new recycling trailer. The Jefferson's had applied for a Recycling Grant in March of 2017 and they were awarded the grant in June. This grant required 25% matching funds from AIS, which was obtained with the assistance of Superintendent Lisa McCane and the Augusta Board of Education.
Pictured is Ms. Anita Jefferson's preschool class along with Principal Robin Kelsch, teaching assistant Kim Carpenter, and Child Development Services high school student aides. Daily, the entire school from its youngest students to its oldest, recycle.
AIS would like to extend their appreciation to the Solid Waste Coordinators, Tommy and Caroline, for their dedication in earning the grant. The students, faculty, and staff would like to thank Ms. McCane and the Board for their cooperation in securing the funding needed.
